Mumbai has announced the inclusion of Rohit Sharma for the first pair of matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, significantly enhancing their lineup for the tournament's start. The team will be spearheaded by Shardul Thakur, featuring a diverse blend of seasoned players and emerging talents.
Key players such as Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi will bolster the squad, along with veteran Siddhesh Lad. Wicketkeeping responsibilities will fall to Hardik Tamore and Akash Anand, while the established spin attack will comprise Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian.
Notably absent are Ajinkya Rahane, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ayush Mhatre. In contrast, the selection committee has introduced several newcomers for fresh opportunities. Chinmay Sutar, who made appearances for India Emerging in List A matches, returns, while young batter Ishan Mulchandani and fast bowler Onkar Tarmale, recently acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL auction, join the squad.
Drawn in Group C, Mumbai kicks off their journey against Sikkim on December 24 in Jaipur, followed by a match against Uttarakhand two days later. The team is determined to make a strong beginning as they pursue success in the tournament.
With Rohit Sharma's participation and Shardul Thakur at the helm, Mumbai aims for a powerful start, leveraging their blend of youth and experience as they compete in the opening stages of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
