The unveiling of the Dhurandhar trailer marks Ranveer Singh’s much-anticipated comeback to the big screen, revealed during an event in Mumbai on Tuesday. This dark, action-oriented spy thriller quickly captured attention with its intense atmosphere, striking visuals, and Singh’s fierce metamorphosis, evoking memories of his iconic Alauddin Khilji character.
The trailer opens with a harrowing torture scene featuring Arjun Rampal as Major Iqbal, dubbed the “Angel of Death,” whose chilling ideology focuses on “bleeding India through a thousand cuts.” This character establishes the film's conflict-driven narrative.
R Madhavan portrays Sanyal, the Indian spymaster whose demeanor reflects real national security strategists. Faced with escalating cross-border dangers, Sanyal resorts to deep infiltration as his primary strategy. Akshaye Khanna appears as Rehman Dakait, a stylish and unpredictable outlaw, while Sunny Deol’s character, SP Chaudhary Aslam, escalates the scene’s intensity, complementing a powerful adversarial ensemble.
As the protagonist, Ranveer Singh enters dramatically as a relentless operative determined to surpass the enemy's brutality. His proclamation of overcoming the adversary's explosives with his own establishes the film's high-stakes narrative. Following this is an explosive montage featuring gunfights, explosions, and hand-to-hand engagements, hinting at the extensive action the film delivers.
Originally scheduled for an earlier release, the trailer launch was delayed in light of the Delhi blast and out of respect for veteran actor Dharmendra's health. However, fans deemed the wait justifiable, commending Ranveer’s intense appearance and commanding screen presence. The robust cast, featuring seasoned actors, also sparked excitement among viewers.
In a teaser of what to expect, Ranveer shared his character poster, portraying himself as the “wrath of God,” further stoking anticipation for the film. Directed and produced by Aditya Dhar, along with Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar, Dhurandhar features key roles played by Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun.
The film is set for theatrical release on 5 December.
