Eighth Round of Longines Hathab Equestrian Series Kicks Off in Qatar

The eighth round of the Longines Hathab equestrian series began on Thursday at the Longines Arena in Al Shaqab, marking a thrilling continuation of the competition's ninth season. Hosted by the Qatar Equestrian Federation in collaboration with Al Shaqab, the event spans three days and aims to nurture the talents of local riders and horses. The opening day showcased the 100cm Amateur and 130cm Silver classes, drawing participation from both seasoned and emerging riders.

In the Amateur competition, Khalifa bin Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani clinched first place aboard Zion with a remarkable time of 54.36 seconds. Following closely was Maryam Abdulkarim in second place on Beyonce with a time of 54.89 seconds, and Hamad Nasser Al Marri took third on Jumbo with 55.15 seconds. Winners were acknowledged by Mohammed Saleh Al Marri, Head of Facilities and Logistics for Longines Hathab. This event showcased an impressive display of talent, highlighting the increasing interest in equestrianism within Qatar.

The Silver class added to the thrill as Nasser Al Ghazali took the lead with a swift performance on Dexter, clocking in at 26.85 seconds. Mohammed Abdullah Jumaa followed in second position on Viheibi at 27 seconds, while Khalid Al Hadi secured third place on Doremi with a time of 27.65 seconds. Abdullah Mohammed Al Marri, the tournament director, presented awards to honor the riders' exceptional efforts.

The Longines Hathab series stands out as Qatar’s premier domestic equestrian competition, aimed at enhancing riding prowess, supporting young talent, and fostering the nation's equestrian heritage. Each round of this championship not only highlights emerging athletes but also promotes professional excellence in the sport. As the current season progresses, it promises even more competitive action, offering invaluable experiences for riders eager to advance in Qatar’s equestrian scene and national tournaments.
