Russian President Vladimir Putin has received an invitation to join a proposed “Board of Peace” envisioned by US President Donald Trump to oversee governance and reconstruction efforts in postwar Gaza, the Kremlin confirmed on Monday.
According to Kremlin officials, the invitation has been formally conveyed to Moscow, and Russian authorities are now reviewing the proposal. The initiative is understood to focus on managing administrative responsibilities, rebuilding infrastructure, and supporting long-term stability in Gaza following the conflict.
The Kremlin stated that Russia is seeking further details from Washington to better understand the framework of the proposed board. This includes clarifying its mandate, decision-making process, level of authority, and the roles expected of participating countries. Moscow emphasized that any decision on involvement would be made only after all aspects of the proposal are fully examined.
The idea of a Board of Peace has drawn attention as global discussions continue on how Gaza should be governed and rebuilt after the war. While the proposal signals an attempt to involve major international players in postwar planning, many elements of the initiative remain undefined, prompting cautious responses from potential participants.
Russia’s approach reflects its broader stance on international conflict resolution, stressing the importance of clear objectives, respect for international law, and inclusive dialogue. The Kremlin has indicated that consultations with US officials will continue as it evaluates the diplomatic and strategic implications of joining such a body.
If implemented, the participation of major global powers could significantly influence the direction of Gaza’s reconstruction and governance. Putin’s possible involvement, pending clarification and agreement on terms, marks a notable development in ongoing international efforts aimed at stabilizing the region after the conflict.
