In a thrilling showdown on Monday, AC Milan surged to the top of Serie A with a stunning 3-2 comeback victory over Torino, fueled by two rapid-fire goals from Christian Pulisic. The American forward, who started on the bench due to illness, was substituted in the 67th minute and instantly turned the tide for his team.
Torino took an early lead at home, with Nikola Vlasic converting a penalty followed by a goal from Duvan Zapata in the 17th minute. Milan appeared to struggle at first, but Adrien Rabiot brought them back into the match with a powerful shot from distance just seven minutes later. The visitors pressed on, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek nearly equalizing until Franco Israel made a crucial save.
Upon his entry, Pulisic injected new life into Milan's attack. He made an immediate impact, scoring with his first touch to level the match, followed shortly with a brilliant low half-volley that completed the comeback. His contributions underscored his significance to the team and intensified their title aspirations.
As extra time unfolded, Pulisic nearly claimed his hat trick; however, his third goal was disallowed due to an offside in the build-up. Nonetheless, Milan’s important victory reinstated them at the pinnacle of Serie A, as they gear up for their upcoming clash with Sassuolo. Meanwhile, Torino, currently positioned 16th, continues to seek their first win since October.
