Mumbai has claimed the top position in the first season of Baseball United following a compelling victory against Mid East. Lord de Vera excelled with a 3-for-4 batting performance, driving in two runs, while Miguel Ojeda’s two-run homer in the second inning energized Mumbai’s offensive strategy.
Chander Woolridge contributed with a flawless 2.1 innings of relief, not allowing any hits or runs while striking out four, securing the win. The pitching lineup was further supported by Chase Gearing (2.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO), Akshay More (1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO), Brandon Kaminer (1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB), and closer Akeel Morris (1.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO) which ensured their triumph.
Mumbai’s batting prowess was also on display with notable performances from Gedionne Marlin (2-for-5, triple, 2 runs, 1 RBI), Brantley Bell (2-for-3), and Manuel Ascanio (1-for-3, 2 runs). With this victory, Mumbai wraps up the regular season in top place with a 6-3 record and now awaits the second-placed team from the Mid East versus Arabia showdown in the upcoming United Series.
For Mid East, Shuhei Fukuda and Hiroyuki Nakajima each recorded 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Munenori Kawasaki contributed with a 2-for-4 performance, scoring one run and driving in another. Haru Yoshioka faced the loss after allowing eight hits, including a home run, leading to five earned runs in three innings. Additional pitching efforts came from Shotaro Kasahara, Shotaro Nakata, Kodai Hamaya, Shingo Hirata, and Severino González.
