Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana has reclaimed the top position in the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings, overtaking South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt. While her rating remains steady at 811 points, it reflects a consistent series of strong performances. Wolvaardt, despite her team’s victory against Ireland, has seen a decline from 814 to 806 points after scoring 31 runs in their latest match.
South Africa had a commanding start against Ireland, winning the first match by seven wickets in East London. Notable contributions came from Sune Luus and Miane Smit, both scoring half-centuries to chase down the 210-run target in just 37 overs. Following this game, Luus surged five spots to joint 31st in the ODI batter rankings and improved ten places to 33rd among all-rounders.
Ireland's players have also made notable advancements in the rankings. Orla Prendergast has moved up one spot to 10th in the all-rounders category, while Laura Delany climbed three spots to reach 16th. Prendergast advanced two places to 34th among ODI bowlers after her 1/34 performance. Other players, including Arlene Kelly and Cara Murray, have also improved their standings in the bowling rankings.
Tumi Sekhukhune, the South African fast bowler, took two wickets in the opener against Ireland, which elevated her seven places to 78th in the ODI bowling rankings. The latest rankings highlight the fierce competition among women cricketers from India, South Africa, and Ireland, illustrating their outstanding performances on the field.
