The 2025 MAMA Awards, often referred to as the "Grammys of Asia," commenced in Hong Kong on Friday, marking the beginning of its much-anticipated festivities.
During the inaugural night, IVE and Enhypen emerged as standout victors, each securing three prestigious awards. Rose was celebrated as Song of the Year, while BoyNextDoor took home the Favorite Male Group accolade. Hearts2Hearts and Cortis were awarded Best New Artists, and the veteran group Super Junior was honored for Inspiring Achievement.
Other notable awards went to Enhypen for Fan's Choice of the Year, IVE who was recognized for Favorite Female Group and Favorite Global Performer, and IVE's Rebel Heart winning Global Trend Song. Enhypen also took the Telasa Favorite Global Artist award, while the Fans' Choice Award was collectively won by i-dle, aespa, Zerobaseone, Hearts2Hearts, Stray Kids, BabyMonster, Riize, and Enhypen.
Despite a recent tragic structure fire in Hong Kong that resulted in 128 deaths, the awards ceremony proceeded, celebrating the vibrant music and talent on a global scale. Rising stars like Rose, Enhypen, and IVE were among the evening’s prominent honorees.
All eyes now turn to Day 2, hosted by actress Kim Hye-soo, promising electrifying performances including G-Dragon’s much-anticipated return, Aespa’s innovative showcase, and Stray Kids’ dynamic set. Additionally, TXT and Riize, along with All Day Project, Cortis, Kickflip, Idid, Izna, JO1, and Kyoka, are set to delight the audience.
Key awards such as Album of the Year and Artist of the Year will be unveiled in the finale, concluding a two-day celebration of Asia's music elite.
