Eradicate all elements that threaten national harmony

Eradicate all elements that threaten national harmony

Post by : Badri Ariffin

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has issued a strong warning that any threat to national unity must be “eradicated without compromise.” Speaking in his Aidilfitri message today, the King called on the silent majority of Malaysians to stand against insolent behaviour that harms social harmony.

Sultan Ibrahim expressed disappointment that past reminders on unity and etiquette appear to have been forgotten. “I wish to reiterate the advice given in last year's Hari Raya message — any element threatening the unity of the people must be eradicated without compromise,” he said.

The King emphasized that Malaysia has no place for insolence, whether from inter-ethnic tension or internal disputes. “The majority of Malaysians know how to behave with courtesy in daily life. This majority voice must overcome and silence the voices of the uncivilized,” he added.

He cited past controversies, including the sale of socks with the word “Allah,” flying the Jalur Gemilang upside down, and Quran desecration, noting that reckless words and actions continue to incite hatred and division. “Where have we failed in teaching basic etiquette, to the point that some behave so toxicly that they ignite tension?” the King asked.

Sultan Ibrahim reminded citizens to uphold the fifth principle of Rukun Negara: Courtesy and Morality. He said maintaining harmony is not just about law or official discussions but a daily practice.

The King also urged authorities to handle sensitive matters carefully and beyond reproach. “Actions must be rightful, firm, and precise to maintain public trust. I expect all parties to take my advice seriously,” he said.

He encouraged Muslims to pray for oppressed Muslims worldwide, asking for protection, victory, and global peace.

Concluding his message, Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah prayed for Malaysia’s safety, prosperity, and protection from disasters. The King also reminded citizens to travel safely and eat carefully during the holidays, saying: “Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin.”
