In a thrilling display of skill and determination, the Seattle Kraken secured a landmark 5-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Climate Pledge Arena on Thursday night. Leading the charge was rising star Shane Wright, who netted two crucial goals to propel the Kraken to their first-ever home win against Toronto.
Seattle, who had previously fallen in all four home meetings against the Maple Leafs by a combined score of 17-5, showcased a much-improved performance this time around. Wright’s two-goal effort was complemented by strong contributions from Brandon Montour and Jared McCann, each delivering a goal and an assist. Matty Beniers also found the back of the net, rounding out a balanced offensive attack that kept Toronto’s defense on its heels all night.
Goaltender Joey Daccord was a standout for the Kraken, stopping 29 shots with confident and timely saves, providing the backbone for Seattle’s defensive effort. His steady presence between the pipes was key in shutting down Toronto’s offensive pushes and maintaining the team’s momentum throughout the game.
The victory was particularly sweet for Seattle, as it capped off a solid 4-2-0 homestand and marked the Kraken’s third consecutive win. The team’s recent surge in form is building excitement among fans and signaling that Seattle is finding its stride this season.
Toronto, despite their efforts, struggled to contain the Kraken’s pace and creativity. The Maple Leafs managed two goals but were unable to match Seattle’s firepower or defensive resilience.
With this win, the Kraken not only improve their standings but also send a message that they are becoming a formidable opponent, especially on home ice. The team will look to carry this momentum forward as they continue their campaign.
