DUBAI — A heartbreaking incident unfolded in the Deira district of Dubai, where 19-year-old Mohammed Mishaal from Kozhikode, Kerala, tragically fell from a multi-story terrace. Mishaal was visiting his cousins in the UAE for about 15 days when the accident occurred. He was quickly transported to Rashid Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival.
Described by friends as a spirited individual, Mishaal reportedly lost his footing after his leg became wedged between two pipes while climbing the building.
“He was living with his cousins here while his parents remained back in Kozhikode. This is a devastating loss for them,” commented family friend Haneefa K K. Mishaal was studying for a diploma in civil engineering at a Kozhikode institution and is mourned by his parents and two sisters.
This incident casts a spotlight on the perils that young individuals face in high-rise environments. Mishaal marks the second teenage fatality due to a fall in the UAE this year, following the tragic passing of 17-year-old Alex Binoy in Abu Dhabi last April.
Legal protocols are currently being finalized, and preparations are underway for the repatriation of Mishaal’s remains to Kerala. The community is left reeling from this loss, emphasizing the urgent need for safety measures in tall buildings.
