Kalyani Priyadarshan, the lead star of Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra, has showered praise on her friend Dulquer Salmaan for his role in the newly released film, Kaantha. She expressed her admiration on social media, describing it as her favorite performance from Dulquer to date.
In her review, Kalyani mentioned she entered the cinema with minimal expectations but left deeply moved. “This will probably remain my favorite @dqsalmaan performance… I went in knowing very little and emerged so touched. I get thrilled whenever Dulquer speaks Tamil on screen,” she remarked.
Kalyani also highlighted the talents of her co-stars Samuthirakani, Bhagyashri Borse, and Rana Daggubati. “@thondankani sir, I anticipated cheering solely for DQ's lines, but I found myself applauding yours as well! @bhagyashriborse… you grab my attention on screen, no matter who else is present. And @ranadaggubati, I always relish watching you excel in your craft,” she shared.
She commended director Selvaraj Selvamani and music composer Jakes Bejoy, calling the casting impeccable and congratulated the entire team involved.
Directed by Selvamani and produced by Dulquer and Rana under Wayfarer Films and Spirit Media, Kaantha tells the story of superstar TK Mahadevan (Dulquer), who grapples with ego conflicts involving his former mentor Ayya (Samuthirakani). Bhagyashri portrays the aspiring star Kumari, while Rana takes on the role of police inspector Phoenix. Released on November 14, the film grossed ₹4.30 crore in India and ₹10.5 crore globally.
