HYBE Launches New Label for Girl Groups

HYBE Launches New Label for Girl Groups

Post by : Shakul

South Korean entertainment giant HYBE has officially announced the launch of a new subsidiary label named ABD, a company dedicated entirely to creating and managing girl groups. The announcement was made on May 8, 2026, as HYBE continues expanding its multi-label business strategy and strengthening its influence in the global K-pop industry.

The new label, ABD, stands for “A Bold Dream” and will focus on developing original girl group concepts built around creativity, flexibility, and unconventional ideas. According to HYBE, the label’s mission is to explore fresh artistic directions and create performances and music styles that move beyond traditional K-pop standards.

HYBE has appointed renowned producer Sung Soo Han as the creative leader behind the label’s first girl group project. Sung Soo Han is widely recognized in the K-pop industry for his work with highly successful groups including SEVENTEEN, IZ*ONE, and TWS. Fans and industry experts often describe him as one of the major creative forces behind the modern success of HYBE’s music production system.

The company confirmed that the first girl group under ABD is expected to debut during the second half of 2026. While official details regarding the members, concept, and debut schedule have not yet been revealed, the announcement has already generated significant attention among K-pop fans worldwide. Industry observers believe the project could become one of HYBE’s most anticipated launches in recent years.

The new label will be headed by President Jiwon No, who previously served as Head of Artist Planning at PLEDIS Entertainment, another HYBE subsidiary that manages SEVENTEEN. Jiwon No will oversee overall management, business strategy, and long-term planning for ABD, while Sung Soo Han will guide the creative direction of the upcoming artists.

HYBE explained that ABD will operate under the company’s successful multi-label system, which allows subsidiary labels to maintain creative independence while benefiting from HYBE’s global infrastructure, production resources, and international marketing network. This strategy has already helped several HYBE-affiliated groups achieve global success in recent years.

The launch of ABD also strengthens HYBE’s already powerful portfolio of girl groups. The company currently manages globally recognized acts such as LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans, and ILLIT. By creating a separate label focused entirely on girl group development, HYBE appears to be increasing its investment in the highly competitive female K-pop market.

K-pop industry analysts believe HYBE’s decision reflects the growing international demand for Korean pop music and entertainment content. Girl groups continue to play a major role in expanding K-pop’s influence across global streaming platforms, social media, fashion, and international tours. Experts expect HYBE to use ABD as a platform to experiment with new concepts and creative approaches for future global audiences.

Fans across social media quickly reacted to the announcement, especially due to Sung Soo Han’s involvement in the project. Many fans expressed excitement about seeing the producer’s creative style applied to a completely new girl group under HYBE’s management system. As anticipation grows, the debut of ABD’s first group is expected to become one of the biggest K-pop entertainment stories of 2026.
