Actress Girija Oak Godbole, celebrated for her role in Jawan, is preparing for her upcoming series Therapy Sherapy. The show features Gulshan Devaiah, Neha Dhupia, Seema Pahwa, and Manoj Pahwa, under the direction of Sachin Pathak. In a recent interview, Girija discussed her experience filming intimate scenes with Gulshan, highlighting his ability to create a comfortable and respectful atmosphere on set.
Creating a Respectful Environment for Filming
In an insightful dialogue with The Lallantop, Girija Oak revealed her experience shooting intimate moments with Gulshan Devaiah for Therapy Sherapy. She described him as “one of those rare co-actors” who fosters a secure and courteous setting.
Girija mentioned,
“No matter how much planning goes into these scenes, there are very few people with whom you feel completely at ease. Gulshan was one of them. He brought a variety of pillows from his vanity van for comfort and asked me to pick whichever suited me best. During filming, he checked in with me at least 16 or 17 times, asking ‘Are you okay?’”
She continued,
“He reassured me, saying, ‘If you want to stop, it’s perfectly fine.’ That level of thoughtfulness impressed me. For anyone else, this could have been challenging; however, because of Gulshan, I felt entirely comfortable. He truly is that kind of person.”
The Role of Intimacy Coordinators and Challenges Faced
Girija also spoke about the necessity of intimacy coordinators, stressing that their involvement promotes clarity and comfort for the actors. She explained that actors engage in thorough discussions before filming intimate scenes, which helps set up clear boundaries and expectations.
“An environment is cultivated so that actors feel at ease, and intimacy coordinators are always present. Numerous discussions occur beforehand to ensure everyone knows what to expect,” she disclosed.
However, Girija acknowledged that despite meticulous planning, unforeseen challenges can arise once filming begins.
“Once the camera is rolling, it’s often a dilemma whether to pause or continue, especially when the situation feels ambiguous. It’s quite a grey area,” she added.
Directed by Sachin Pathak, Therapy Sherapy explores intricate human emotions and relationships through a quirky yet heartfelt narrative. This series features an impressive cast, including Girija Oak, Gulshan Devaiah, Neha Dhupia, Seema Pahwa, and Manoj Pahwa in key roles.
The official release date for the series is yet to be confirmed, but it has already sparked interest due to its engaging concept and stellar performances.
Girija Oak’s insightful experiences emphasize how professionalism and sensitivity can turn delicate scenes into collaborative artistic endeavors. She credited co-star Gulshan Devaiah for his considerate actions and respect, which helped make the filming of intimate sequences in Therapy Sherapy an enjoyable and secure experience.
