In southern Lebanon, Israeli air strikes have claimed the lives of at least 13 individuals, as reported by local state media and health officials. These attacks occur despite the ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.
According to the National News Agency (NNA) of Lebanon, an Israeli strike on a house in Kfar Dounine caused six deaths and left seven people injured.
On Tuesday, the Lebanese health ministry confirmed the deaths of two paramedics from the Lebanese Civil Defense while they were on a rescue mission in Nabatieh, with one other paramedic sustaining injuries. This rescue team had responded to a prior attack that left one person dead.
The fallen paramedics were named as Hussein Jaber and Ahmad Noura. President Joseph Aoun of Lebanon expressed grief over their passing and remarked that the ongoing Israeli assaults hinder efforts to bring peace to the area.
The Lebanese health ministry has accused Israel of deliberately targeting emergency responders, labeling these actions as violations of international humanitarian law. Since the conflict erupted, they reported that 108 medical personnel have lost their lives, with over 140 attacks documented against ambulances and healthcare facilities.
Additionally, NNA reported that a Syrian man was killed, and his wife injured from an Israeli drone strike targeting their motorcycle in the Tayr Debba region.
The Israeli military claimed they had aimed at a suspect attempting to fire a surface-to-air missile at their aircraft. They also asserted that Hezbollah launched explosive drones at Israeli troops, yet there were no reported casualties.
Three more individuals reportedly died due to an Israeli strike on Jabshit later that day.
Hezbollah has since announced drone attacks aimed at Israeli forces in Naqoura, Bayada, and Houla, asserting they had also targeted an Israeli soldier in Kibbutz Manara, Northern Israel.
Recently, Israel has intensified its military actions in southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah fighters and their infrastructure. Israeli officials accuse the Iran-backed group of breaching the ceasefire agreement brokered by the US back in April.
In retaliation, Hezbollah continues to launch rockets and drones against northern Israel and Israeli military positions in southern Lebanon.
Israeli and Lebanese officials are scheduled to meet once again in Washington on Thursday to seek resolutions to the persisting conflict.
This crisis erupted on March 2, following a combined US-Israel assault on Iran, which prompted Hezbollah to retaliate with rocket fire, leading to severe Israeli air strikes and an incursion into southern Lebanon.
According to the Lebanese health ministry, the ongoing conflict has resulted in at least 2,869 fatalities in Lebanon, including over 380 deaths following the establishment of the ceasefire. Reports indicate that 18 Israeli soldiers and four civilians have also lost their lives during this timeframe.
