The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai, alongside Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP), has unveiled the newly expanded bridge leading into Terminal 1 at Dubai International Airport.
This expansion has increased the traffic lanes from three to four, raising the bridge's capacity from 4,200 vehicles per hour to an impressive 5,600 vehicles per hour—a 33% enhancement. The result is improved traffic flow, shorter travel times, and an enriched experience for airport visitors.
Constructed using an innovative approach featuring steel box girders and a composite concrete deck, this new bridge allows for completion without disrupting traffic on Airport Street or the need for temporary supports, thereby ensuring smooth passage and optimal safety.
The project also encompassed improvements to road pavement, utility setups, landscaping, and the installation of new street lighting to boost safety and visibility.
This initiative underlines RTA's continuous efforts to enhance Dubai's road infrastructure and connectivity to key facilities, aligning with the growth of Dubai International Airport, the globe's busiest for international traffic, ensuring the infrastructure can meet both current and forthcoming demands.
RTA and DAEP remain dedicated to advancing comprehensive road and transport systems, bolstering connectivity, and reinforcing Dubai's status as a premier global aviation and travel center.
