Emirates is gearing up to elevate the travel experience across its A380 and Boeing 777 fleets, targeting a significant cabin overhaul for 60 A380s and 51 777s starting August 2026. This initiative will feature the latest seating designs, enhanced Starlink Wi-Fi, and a cutting-edge entertainment system.
Business Class Upgrades
Travelers in Business Class will enjoy enhanced comfort and privacy, with seat designs drawing inspiration from the airline’s A350 S Lounge. These seats include wireless charging, customizable lighting, in-seat minibar options, and various charging ports. A 4K ice entertainment system enriches the long-haul experience with cinematic appeal.
Enhancements for Premium Economy and Economy
The Premium Economy cabin will feature cutting-edge Recaro mechanical recline seats that offer integrated leg rests, adjustable headrests, and cocktail tables, striking the perfect balance of luxury and value. Economy Class passengers will enjoy lightweight Safran Z400 seats, tailored for comfort on lengthy journeys, featuring eight-way adjustable headrests and functional technical improvements.
Advanced Entertainment and Connectivity Options
Passengers on the retrofitted aircraft will benefit from Panasonic’s Astrova in-flight entertainment system, boasting 4K OLED HDR10+ displays coupled with Spatial Audio for an immersive auditory experience. This system seamlessly integrates with Emirates’ Skywards program for tailored content recommendations, while powerful USB-C charging capabilities keep devices powered throughout the flight. Fleet-wide installation of Starlink Wi-Fi ensures reliable internet access across all routes.
A Large-Scale Fleet Modernization Initiative
Since beginning its retrofit programme in 2021, Emirates has steadily advanced its efforts, with a total of 219 aircraft slated for refurbishment. Each A380’s refurbishment is estimated to take around 22 days, while 777 updates require approximately 18 days, allowing two modified aircraft to enter service each month. This methodical strategy guarantees that travelers experience a consistent and modern journey throughout the airline’s global services.
