Dubai — Emirates is set to expand its operations in North Africa with a major capacity boost between the UAE and Egypt, announcing a fifth daily service to Cairo from February 2026. This move reinforces the airline’s commitment to strengthening regional air connectivity and addressing the growing demand for both leisure and business travel between the two nations.
The expansion will begin in December 2025, with six additional weekly flights operated by Boeing 777 aircraft during the winter season. From February 2026, these flights will transition into a full fifth daily service, providing more options for travellers and enhancing schedule flexibility. The new timings are strategically planned to improve connectivity for passengers flying from Cairo to destinations across Asia, including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand, via Dubai.
Cairo has long been one of Emirates’ most significant routes and remains central to the airline’s African network. Since launching flights to Egypt in 1986, Emirates has carried more than 10 million passengers to and from the country. The Egyptian capital also has the highest deployment of A380 aircraft in the region outside of Dubai. Once the fifth daily service is operational, Cairo will become the most served city in Emirates’ African network, highlighting its growing importance in connecting Egypt to Asia, Europe, and Australia.
The additional frequency will also boost cargo operations, adding about 300 tonnes of weekly belly-hold capacity on the Boeing 777. This increase will strengthen Emirates SkyCargo’s role in supporting Egypt’s agricultural exports, particularly shipments of strawberries, fruits, and vegetables to key international markets. The extra capacity is expected to benefit exporters and enhance trade volumes between the UAE and Egypt.
Both countries share strong and expanding economic ties, supported by collaboration in tourism, manufacturing, logistics, and hospitality. Increased air connectivity is expected to further stimulate cross-border investment and strengthen the partnership between the two nations.
Emirates’ decision to introduce the fifth daily Cairo service reflects not only the rising travel demand but also the deep cultural and economic relationship that continues to grow between the UAE and Egypt. The new service underscores Dubai’s position as a global aviation hub, offering passengers greater access to the Middle East, Africa, and beyond.
