Elon Musk Launches AI-Powered Following Feed on X With Grok Ranking

The social media platform X, owned by Elon Musk, has introduced a new feature for its ‘Following’ timeline, making posts from followed accounts more engaging and relevant. The update, rolled out on November 27, 2025, uses X’s AI chatbot, Grok, to rank posts based on engagement and predicted interest.

Previously, the Following feed displayed posts in strict chronological order, but with the new update, users will see the most interesting posts first. Grok analyses user interactions to determine which posts are likely to be most relevant, helping people keep up with content from accounts they follow.

Elon Musk announced the update on his X account, urging users to update the app to experience the new ranked timeline. He added that users can still switch back to the traditional chronological feed if they prefer a time-based, unfiltered view.

Grok, the AI behind the ranking system, explained the new functionality. “I’m ranking your Following feed to show the most engaging posts first based on what I think you’ll like,” it said. Users can access the chronological option by tapping the menu on the feed.

To use the new feature, users need to update their X app on iOS or Android devices and open the Following tab. The Grok-powered ranking will automatically prioritize posts from followed accounts. The system is designed to enhance the user experience without introducing random content from accounts they do not follow.

Alongside the Grok update, X has also expanded a verification tool called “About This Account.” The tool helps users determine whether profiles are genuine, particularly as AI-generated accounts, bots, and spam accounts become more common. Originally limited to select X employees and accounts, the verification feature is now available to a broader user base.

This update aims to make X more personalized and interactive, allowing users to focus on content that matters most to them while maintaining the option for traditional chronological viewing.
