Post by : Rameen Ariff

Simiatug, Ecuador – November 17, 2025: Authorities have confirmed that a catastrophic bus crash on an inter-provincial road in central Ecuador has resulted in at least 12 fatalities and 10 injuries. The collision occurred between the cities of Simiatug and Ambato, leaving many families devastated as emergency services rushed to assist.

Ecuador's disaster management agency reported the casualties via social media, while the attorney general's office verified that the bus was in transit on the heavily trafficked Simiatug-Ambato corridor at the time of the incident. Investigations are underway with early reports indicating that a possible collision or loss of control may have led to the crash.

Emergency responders arrived swiftly, offering medical support to those injured and securing the crash site. Several of the injured were promptly moved to local hospitals for necessary treatment. Local officials have initiated an investigation to uncover the specific circumstances behind the crash and assess compliance with safety protocols.

Residents from both Simiatug and Ambato have voiced their grief and urged for enhanced road safety initiatives on inter-provincial routes. Transportation officials have called on bus companies to strictly follow speed limits and safety requirements to avert future disasters.

The Ministry of Transport has committed to fully collaborating with the investigation and has assured that support, including counseling and assistance with medical bills, will be provided to victims' families.

This tragic event underscores the pressing safety issues faced on Ecuador’s highways, particularly those linking provincial regions. A comprehensive report from authorities is anticipated in the coming days, detailing any potential legal implications for those accountable.

As communities grieve, emergency services remain devoted to aiding the injured, and officials are examining safety protocols to prevent similar calamities in the future.
