Under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai has kicked off the 10th edition of the Knowledge Summit, celebrating a decade of commitment to knowledge enhancement and sustainable development. Organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, the summit is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre and will run until 20 November.
Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum opened the summit, reflecting on a ten-year journey that transformed the platform into a global nexus for experts, researchers, educators, and policymakers. She emphasized pride in the summit's evolution as a venue that fosters impactful conversations, inspires future-oriented innovations, and affirms Dubai's standing as a global hub for knowledge and innovation exchange.
This year's theme, “Knowledge Markets: Developing Sustainable Communities,”, focuses on how transformative ideas and innovations can yield development benefits. Discussants explored how knowledge contributes to diversified economies, encourages technology adoption, and empowers communities to thrive amid rapid changes.
The opening ceremony unveiled the Global Knowledge Index 2025, which ranked Switzerland as the leader, followed by Singapore and Sweden. The UAE continues to top the Arab region, outpacing Saudi Arabia and Qatar. This year, the Index introduced refined methodologies and new sub-indicators to enhance its accuracy and reflect the readiness of countries for creating knowledge-driven economies.
The first day featured an engaging lineup of panels, expert talks, and interactive workshops that tackled essential subjects such as knowledge market evolution, sustainability, education, research, innovation, and digital transformation. Global participants explored how knowledge sharing and collaborations can support societies amid accelerating changes while paving new avenues for sustainable development.
The 10th iteration of the Summit is more than a commemoration of past accomplishments; it represents a renewed commitment to forging future-aware communities and advancing the global drive for knowledge-driven growth.
