Dubai is steering the automotive trade into a new era. Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the city has launched the ambitious Dubai Auto Market development project. The unveiling, witnessed by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, marks a significant milestone in establishing Dubai as a global automotive powerhouse.
Spanning 22 million square feet, the Dubai Auto Market is designed to host over 1,500 showrooms, specialized workshops, warehouses, and multi-storey parking facilities. The project will also include a convention center, hotel, auction house, and retail and F&B areas, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for investors, traders, and automotive enthusiasts alike.
A Game-Changer for Regional Trade
DP World, renowned for its global logistics expertise, is spearheading the development, ensuring seamless connectivity and access. The market is set to handle over 800,000 vehicles annually, linking exporters from Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East to international markets. By integrating modern infrastructure with trade and assembly facilities, the hub aims to support Dubai’s goal under the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 to double its economy by 2033.
“This project is a clear reflection of Dubai’s commitment to becoming one of the world’s top urban economies,” said a Dubai government official at the launch. The market will cater to new, used, electric, and hybrid vehicles, providing a one-stop destination for trading and investment while reinforcing Dubai’s leadership in the automotive industry.
Strategic Partnerships and Future Growth
Dubai Municipality and DP World have signed a strategic partnership to operate and manage the Auto Market, leveraging DP World’s experience in economic zones and integrated logistics hubs. The collaboration promises advanced services, including customs clearance, employee accommodation, and entertainment, ensuring a seamless trade experience.
With UAE passenger car sales projected to nearly double by 2030, the Dubai Auto Market is poised to transform the region’s automotive landscape, boosting trade, investment, and innovation. The market not only strengthens Dubai’s position as the Gulf’s largest used-car hub but also sets a global benchmark for future automotive trade ecosystems.
