Tere Ishk Mein collects ₹68 crore worldwide opening weekend

Tere Ishk Mein collects ₹68 crore worldwide opening weekend

Post by : Meena Ariff

Aanand L Rai’s romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, released in theatres across India in Hindi and Tamil on November 28. Despite receiving mixed critical reviews, the film has performed impressively at the box office, particularly its Hindi version, drawing audiences across the country.

In India, the Hindi version alone surpassed the ₹50 crore mark during its opening weekend. Producers shared a celebratory poster featuring Dhanush reclining on a jet with the caption: “50.95 crore (NBOC in India) Only Hindi.” Dhanush also expressed his excitement on social media, writing, “Flying high! Har Har Mahadev.” The Hindi release has significantly outperformed the Tamil version, both domestically and in overseas markets.

The film opened with ₹22 crore on Friday, followed by ₹44.25 crore by Saturday. By the end of Sunday, the net collection in India reached ₹52 crore, of which ₹49.75 crore came from the Hindi version and an estimated ₹2.25 crore from the Tamil version. Overseas, the film collected ₹6 crore during its first weekend, bringing the worldwide total to ₹68 crore. Analysts note that while weekday collections may dip, the film is on track to potentially cross the ₹100 crore mark in the coming weeks if momentum continues.

Directed by Aanand L Rai with a screenplay by Himanshu Sharma and Neeraj Yadav, Tere Ishk Mein explores the complex and layered relationship between Shankar (Dhanush) and Mukti (Kriti Sanon). The story delves into how past misunderstandings and unresolved emotions resurface when the two reconnect after several years, weaving a narrative filled with romance, regret, and the possibility of second chances.

The film’s performances, music, and Rai’s signature emotional storytelling have been highlighted by audiences, contributing to its strong box office start. While reviews remain varied, viewers have particularly appreciated the chemistry between Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, which has been a key factor in the film’s commercial success.
