A senior man in his 70s tragically lost his life when struck by a vehicle near Belleville, as reported by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). This tragic event unfolded on Old Highway 2 Saturday evening, prompting a detailed investigation.

Authorities indicated that they were dispatched to the scene close to Montrose Road around 8:30 p.m. Despite the swift arrival of emergency personnel, the man was declared deceased at the location. The identity of the deceased has yet to be revealed.

In the aftermath of the incident, a portion of Old Highway 2 was shut down for several hours while forensic teams examined the area and collected evidence, but the road has since been reopened to traffic.

The OPP is actively continuing their investigation into the event, analyzing potential factors that led to the collision. Further information concerning the driver or the vehicle involved has not been disclosed at this point.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have been a witness or who might have video evidence to step forward, as investigators seek to clarify the circumstances of the crash.

This incident has intensified discussions about the safety of pedestrians in the area, as authorities embark on efforts to piece together the events leading to this tragic incident.
