A catastrophic incident in Bangkok on Saturday has resulted in the deaths of at least eight individuals, with over twenty more hurt after a cargo train collided with a public bus.
The collision occurred near a central airport rail link station. Emergency response teams from the Erawan Medical Center confirmed the fatalities, while several injured were transported to local hospitals for medical attention.
Social media footage captured the moments leading to the crash, showing numerous vehicles halted at a railway crossing. The cargo train barreled into an orange bus that was first in line. This severe impact caused nearby vehicles to be swept along the tracks and the bus was forced into a pillar of the expressway.
In the aftermath, the bus was swiftly engulfed in flames. The powerful collision also threw several motorcycles and riders onto the highway.
Firefighters and rescue personnel quickly arrived and were able to gain control of the blaze. Subsequent images depicted rescue workers searching through the charred remains of the bus for both victims and potential survivors.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to uncover the details surrounding this tragic accident. Updates are anticipated as recovery and rescue efforts continue.
