An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale shook the Sındırgı area in Balıkesir province, western Türkiye, early today, as reported by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
This seismic event occurred 11.04 kilometers deep beneath the surface. Authorities have stated there are no reported casualties or property damage, with teams on the ground conducting thorough assessments of the situation.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya mentioned that emergency response teams were rapidly sent to the region to investigate any potential injuries or structural damage.
Last year, on October 27, the same district encountered a 6.1-magnitude earthquake, which also resulted in no loss of life.
Officials are keeping a close watch on the situation and advise residents to remain vigilant for any aftershocks that may follow.
