In a grand ceremony under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, the winners of the 28th Sharjah Holy Quran and Sunnah Award were honored last Thursday. Sheikh Dr. Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Ruler’s Office, graced the event, which was organized by the Sharjah Noble Quran and Sunnah Establishment at the Al Qasimia University Theatre, attracting scholars, officials, and families.
The festivities began with the UAE national anthem followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran. Sultan Matar bin Dalmouk, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Noble Quran and Sunnah Establishment, addressed the audience, expressing his gratitude to Sheikh Dr. Salem for his support and commitment to the award.
Bin Dalmouk acknowledged the vital collaboration among families, educators, and supervisors, emphasizing their crucial role in enhancing the program’s standards. He pointed out that the award stands as a prominent platform for showcasing excellence in Islamic teachings, thereby instilling deep-rooted values in the youth.
This year's competition saw unprecedented participation, with 1,103 contestants, of whom 482 reached the final stages, resulting in 131 awardees across various categories, along with 12 winners from additional activities. A noteworthy introduction this year was a new category dedicated to Quranic readings, highlighting the recitation of Asim, complemented by the complete Al-Jazariyyah text.
The audience enjoyed a compelling visual presentation that traced the journey of the establishment in promoting the award throughout the years, underlining its role in nurturing young aspirants through a structured educational framework.
Dr. Salem Mohammed Al Duwabi, Chair of the Judging Committee for the Sunnah category, praised the efforts in organizing the award and underscored its importance in motivating participants to memorize both the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Hadiths. He expressed gratitude to parents for their ongoing encouragement, which he deemed essential to the achievements of the competitors.
Sheikh Dr. Salem subsequently presented shields and certificates to the winners of the 28th edition, recognizing excellence across numerous categories, including those for Imams, Quran instructors, and special awards for senior citizens and women.
Awards were also distributed in the Prophetic Sunnah competition, with recognition given to the best study circles and centers in Sharjah, honoring the dedication of the judging committees as well.
The ceremony culminated with Sheikh Dr. Salem presenting commemorative shields to sponsors and supporters, celebrating their invaluable contributions. He was also presented with a commemorative gift as a token of appreciation from the Establishment.
This event showcased Sharjah’s steadfast commitment to nurturing Islamic values through the Quran and Sunnah, inspiring new generations to pursue knowledge and excellence.
