Indian cricketer Yash Dayal has publicly addressed his absence from the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League, stating that the decision to stay out of the tournament was not made by him personally. The left-arm pacer, who remains a part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, made the remarks while speaking on a podcast amid increasing speculation surrounding his future with the franchise.
Earlier this season, RCB Director of Cricket Mo Bobat had explained that Dayal would not participate in IPL 2026 because of a “personal situation.” However, Dayal’s latest comments appear to challenge that explanation. The 28-year-old cricketer clarified that while he is not playing this season, he continues to remain connected to the franchise and was neither released nor replaced by the team management.
Speaking candidly during the interview, Dayal admitted that watching matches from outside has been emotionally difficult for him. He said he misses being with the team and continues to feel attached to the dressing room environment. According to the pacer, the franchise still considers him an important member of the squad, which is why he remains on the retained players list despite his absence from competitive action.
Dayal also revealed that communication with the RCB management remains active and positive. He stated that he has remained in regular contact with senior officials, coaching staff, and team mentor Dinesh Karthik. The bowler emphasized that there is no misunderstanding or communication gap between him and the franchise management, adding that all discussions have remained professional and transparent.
The controversy surrounding Dayal’s absence has gained further attention because of ongoing legal proceedings against the cricketer. Reports indicate that he is currently facing multiple allegations, including a case related to sexual exploitation and another case registered under the POCSO Act. These legal matters have reportedly prevented his return to professional cricket at this stage.
According to police records, the first FIR was registered at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad under provisions related to alleged sexual exploitation under false promises of marriage. Investigators stated that the complaint was filed by a woman who accused the cricketer of deceiving her over a prolonged period.
In a separate matter, another FIR was reportedly filed at Jaipur’s Sanganer Police Station involving allegations under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Authorities alleged that the cricketer emotionally manipulated a minor while making false promises connected to a cricketing career. The investigation in both matters is currently ongoing, and no court verdict has yet been delivered.
Despite the serious legal controversy, Dayal’s latest remarks suggest that his relationship with RCB remains intact. His statement has now sparked fresh debate among cricket fans regarding the real reasons behind his IPL 2026 absence and the franchise’s handling of the situation during a challenging period for both the player and the team.
