Renowned Indian chef Vikas Khanna has earned a spot on TIME magazine’s esteemed list of the 100 most influential people worldwide. This recognition marks a significant milestone in his culinary career and underscores his influence on global gastronomy.
Khanna graced the TIME 100 Gala in New York on April 23, donning a stylish all-black ensemble. His outfit included a bespoke black bandhgala by Louis Vuitton, complemented by a crisp white shirt, tailored black trousers, and sleek formal shoes. A peacock brooch gifted by Nita Ambani, sourced from Swadesh, added a personal, cultural flair to his attire.
Following the gala, Vikas took to Instagram to share several photos and an emotional message reflecting on his personal journey. He recounted the difficult period when he was labeled as “Curry Boy,” a term that initially left him feeling belittled. He articulated that this phrase once carried a deep sense of disrespect and pain.
Yet, he illustrated how he redefined its implications through dedication and self-confidence. Today, he proudly claims the title as a badge of honor marking his identity and achievements. He described his journey as a transformative one—“step by step, plate by plate,” showcasing his evolution from obscurity to respect.
His heartfelt post garnered widespread admiration, with numerous people commending his remarkable accomplishments and inspiring narrative. Fans celebrated how he rose from his modest beginnings in Punjab to attain global acclaim, additionally applauding his efforts in promoting Indian cuisine on an international stage.
