UAE Unveils Scholarship Initiative to Cultivate AI Talent

UAE Unveils Scholarship Initiative to Cultivate AI Talent

Post by : Badri Ariffin

In a vital move to bolster the UAE’s status as a global powerhouse in technology, a groundbreaking national scholarship initiative has been unveiled to assist high-achieving undergraduate scholars in artificial intelligence at the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). This program is intricately linked to the nation’s overarching vision of expanding its supremacy in AI and advanced technological realms.

Kicking off in the academic year 2025–2026, the Tahnoon bin Zayed Scholarship for AI Excellence will provide extensive support to exceptional students enrolled in MBZUAI’s Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence program. This initiative aims to foster the UAE’s future talent pool in the AI domain, empowering young innovators to acquire the skills necessary to thrive in the swiftly evolving tech landscape.

Over a span of six years, it is anticipated that around 350 students will benefit from this merit-based scholarship. The selection process will be highly competitive, focusing on mathematical aptitude, leadership skills, and an entrepreneurial outlook. Scholars not only receive full financial backing but also have the chance to represent the UAE at prestigious youth and tech events across the globe while securing resources to launch their startup ideas or tech projects.

Differing from conventional AI degrees, MBZUAI’s undergraduate program incorporates technical education along with humanities, business, and liberal arts, fostering a well-rounded perspective on ethical and scalable AI advancement. The program welcomes both Emirati and international candidates, situating MBZUAI as an emerging center for undergraduate AI education worldwide.

Students will also attain practical experience through internships, industry placements, and mentorships with leading tech entities. The cutting-edge learning environment at MBZUAI—featuring advanced computational systems, smart classrooms, and specialized innovation spaces—further enhances the educational experience, equipping students to make significant contributions to the thriving knowledge economy in the region.

This scholarship initiative stands as a substantial commitment to nurturing a new lineage of innovators who will drive technological advancement within the UAE and beyond.
