A delegation from the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan is participating in the Education World Forum 2026 being held in London from May 17 to May 21. The delegation is headed by Deputy Minister of Education Azat Atayev.
The Education World Forum is considered one of the leading international platforms focused on education policy, digital transformation, innovation and human capital development. Ministers, policymakers and education experts from around the world are attending the event to discuss the future of global education systems.
During the opening sessions at the Park Plaza London Westminster Bridge Hotel, the Turkmen delegation presented information about reforms being introduced in Turkmenistan’s education system. Officials highlighted the country’s efforts to include climate resilience and environmental education within national educational programs.
At the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, members of the delegation joined specialized discussions on digital transformation, teacher training, educational leadership and sustainable digital learning systems. The Turkmen side also shared achievements related to university reforms and scientific development.
Representatives of Turkmenistan presented data showing improvements in higher education quality, including the introduction of a KPI management system for universities with more than 80 indicators. Officials also highlighted growth in research publications, increased citation indexes and the development of commercialization centers for scientific projects.
The delegation introduced the Strategy for the Development of Higher Education in Turkmenistan for 2026–2052 along with the Atlas of Future Professions, which aims to prepare students for future labor market demands and digital economy opportunities.
Several important bilateral meetings were also held during the forum. Discussions with educational technology company Classera focused on artificial intelligence learning tools, educational analytics and personalized learning systems. Both sides discussed possible pilot cooperation projects involving digital education platforms.
Meetings with ClassLink focused on digital infrastructure, educational data integration and school management systems. Turkmen representatives also held talks with Times Higher Education regarding international university rankings and improving the global visibility of Turkmen universities.
The delegation further discussed international certification systems with Pearson and educational testing standards with the Educational Testing Service. Meetings were also held with the British Council to review cooperation projects related to English language teaching, inclusive education and teacher training programs.
Deputy Minister Azat Atayev also met with United Kingdom Secretary of State for Education Bridget Phillipson. Both sides discussed opportunities to strengthen educational cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UK in the future.
Turkmen officials stated that participation in the Education World Forum 2026 will help strengthen international partnerships, support digital transformation in education and improve the country’s efforts to build competitive human capital for the future.
