A Class 9 student was detained in Tripura after he allegedly assaulted a six-year-old girl in Khowai district. The incident shocked local residents and police quickly started an investigation under the POCSO Act.
According to police, the incident happened when the girl was at home with her elder sister while their parents were away for work. The accused boy allegedly called the child to his house by showing her flowers.
When the parents returned home, the girl complained of pain and her family noticed injury marks on her body. After asking the child, the family came to know about the incident and informed police.
Local residents later caught the accused and handed him over to police. Officers registered a case under the POCSO Act and started legal action.
Police said the child was sent for medical examination and statements from the family were recorded. The accused has been detained and further investigation is continuing.
The incident has raised concerns about child safety in the area. Authorities asked people not to share the identity of the child on social media.
