Thailand’s Ministry of Defence has continued its efforts to strengthen the country’s defence industry and healthcare system by improving domestic pharmaceutical production. On Friday, May 8, 2026, General Tharaphong Malakham, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, visited the Military Pharmaceutical Factory along with General Sarun Petranon, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, and other senior officials. The visit highlighted the government’s focus on national security, healthcare preparedness, and self-reliance in medicine production.
The Military Pharmaceutical Factory operates under the Defence Industry and Military Energy Center and plays an important role in producing medicines for military personnel and the general public. During the visit, the delegation reviewed the factory’s operations, including medicine production, procurement, and quality analysis. Officials said the facility is essential for supporting Thailand’s defence healthcare system while also helping reduce dependence on imported medicines.
During the inspection, senior officials closely monitored the progress of pharmaceutical manufacturing and discussed ways to improve production efficiency and management systems. The ministry also emphasized the need to maintain high-quality standards and modernize production processes to prepare for future public health emergencies and national security challenges. Officials believe that strengthening domestic production capacity will improve the country’s readiness during crisis situations.
The delegation first attended a detailed operational briefing at the Ratchaphruek Meeting Room inside the Administration Building. Factory executives presented reports on operational achievements, production targets, ongoing projects, and future development plans. Discussions also focused on current obstacles and challenges affecting pharmaceutical production and supply chain management. Senior officials shared recommendations on improving long-term sustainability and strengthening the factory’s capabilities.
After the meeting, the delegation toured the Kittikhachorn Building to inspect the medicine production line and quality control systems. Officials observed different stages of the manufacturing process, including laboratory testing, packaging, storage, and safety procedures. The inspection aimed to ensure that the production system remains efficient, secure, and capable of meeting increasing national demand for medicines and medical supplies.
Major General Chansilp Theppitak, Director of the Military Pharmaceutical Factory, along with senior officers and staff members, welcomed the delegation and explained the facility’s important role in supporting Thailand’s defence and healthcare sectors. Officials stated that the factory has become a key institution in strengthening the country’s medical supply security and ensuring stable access to quality medicines for both military personnel and civilians.
The visit by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence reflects Thailand’s broader strategy of improving national preparedness and healthcare security through local production capabilities. The government believes that continued investment in military pharmaceutical manufacturing will not only strengthen defence operations but also provide long-term benefits for public healthcare. Authorities expect the Military Pharmaceutical Factory to continue playing a major role in supporting Thailand’s national security and public health development in the future.
