Thailand’s Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has partnered with the Thai SME Federation to strengthen agricultural processing industries, improve farmers’ incomes, and expand Thai agricultural products into international markets. The initiative focuses on using modern technology and innovation to upgrade the country’s agricultural sector and support long-term economic growth.
Agriculture Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit revealed that senior representatives from the Thai SME Federation recently met with ministry officials in Bangkok to discuss strategies for supporting agricultural entrepreneurs and small businesses. The discussions focused on adding value to agricultural products through processing, improving product standards, and increasing market access both domestically and internationally.
According to the ministry, the government is prioritizing the development of agricultural SMEs alongside grassroots farmers. Authorities plan to accelerate programs aimed at reducing production costs and increasing income through modern farming technologies such as precision agriculture, efficient fertilizer management, and the use of alternative energy solutions.
Officials said expanding agricultural processing industries will help create more stable earnings for farmers and local entrepreneurs while improving the competitiveness of Thai agricultural products in global markets. The ministry also called for stronger cooperation between the government, private sector, and SME networks to improve trade opportunities and support sustainable rural economic growth.
Thai SME Federation President Dr. Napapong Teerawor expressed confidence in the government’s agricultural development policies and said the federation is fully prepared to support implementation efforts. He stated that agricultural modernization would help strengthen Thailand’s economy while creating long-term benefits for farmers and small businesses across the country.
The SME Federation plans to support entrepreneurs and farmers in four key areas, including technology and innovation transfer, upgrading product standards, expanding offline and online market channels, and improving access to funding. Officials believe these measures will help businesses improve liquidity and compete more effectively in international markets.
Dr. Napapong added that the federation is ready to help more entrepreneurs enter standardized processing systems and expand Thai agricultural exports worldwide. The organization also plans to strengthen collaboration networks between farmers and SMEs to encourage innovation and sustainable development within Thailand’s grassroots economy.
Government officials said the initiative aligns with Thailand’s broader strategy of increasing the value of agricultural products, strengthening rural communities, and creating a more resilient and competitive economy through technology-driven development.
