Authorities in Nova Scotia reported that a teenager experienced life-threatening injuries after being attacked by three large dogs on Saturday evening in the rural area of Welshtown.
The Shelburne District RCMP received emergency calls shortly after 5 p.m. regarding a serious attack on Upper Sandy Cove Road. When officers arrived, they discovered that the cyclist had been passing a private residence when the dogs charged out and assaulted him.
Due to the critical nature of the injuries sustained, an air ambulance was dispatched. The young victim was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to a Halifax hospital, where specialized treatment was provided. At the time of his transport, police confirmed that the injuries were indeed life-threatening.
The involved dogs were subsequently euthanized by a veterinarian to protect public safety. Law enforcement has not yet revealed the breeds of the dogs, the age of the victim, or the owner’s identity.
The investigation into the details of the incident is ongoing. Authorities have stated that further updates will be provided as the case is still under scrutiny.
