Suicide Attack at Pakistan Police School Kills 7 Cops, 6 Terrorists

Suicide Attack at Pakistan Police School Kills 7 Cops, 6 Terrorists

Post by : Rameen Ariff

A deadly suicide attack at the Ratta Kulachi Police Training School in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, left seven police officers and six terrorists dead late Friday night. The attack began when terrorists drove a truck loaded with explosives into the main gate, causing a massive explosion that shook the compound.

Immediately after the blast, militants wearing various uniforms entered the school and opened fire indiscriminately. Police personnel quickly responded, surrounding the attackers and engaging them in a prolonged gunfight. During the five-hour battle, the militants continued throwing hand grenades, leading to further casualties among security forces.

Initial reports confirmed that three terrorists were neutralized during the first retaliation by police. Later, three more attackers were killed during the clearance operation. In addition to the seven officers killed, thirteen police personnel sustained injuries in the attack. All trainee recruits, instructors, and staff members present—around 200 people—were safely evacuated to secure locations.

The operation involved multiple units, including SSG commandos, Al-Burq Force, Elite Force, and local police. DPO Dera Ismail Khan, Sahibzada Sajjad Ahmed, and RPO Syed Ashfaq Anwar personally supervised the operation on-site. Security forces recovered suicide vests, explosives, modern firearms, and ammunition from the terrorists.

Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, confirmed that the area has been completely cleared. A thorough search and clean-up operation is ongoing to eliminate any remaining threats. The IGP also praised the leadership of the RPO and DPO, paid tribute to the officers who lost their lives, and announced rewards for the personnel who participated in the operation.
