Colombian megastar Shakira has unveiled a snippet of her upcoming track “Dai Dai,” designated as the official anthem for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Recorded at Brazil’s iconic Maracanã Stadium, the short clip features Shakira performing on stage alongside a group of dancers. The glimpse captures her vocals in English: “Here in this place / You belong… What broke you once / Made you strong,” harmonized with a male voice.
As noted in her social media update, the complete song is set to debut on May 14. The track features international sensation Burna Boy, showcasing a blend of global influences.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will kick off on June 11, with Mexico taking on South Africa at the historic Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. The tournament culminates on July 19 with the final match at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, near New York City.
Shakira's connection to World Cup music isn't new; she previously captivated audiences with the universally adored “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” for the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
“Dai Dai” stands apart from Coca-Cola's another official campaign song, a reimagining of Van Halen’s “Jump,” featuring artists like J Balvin, Travis Barker, Amber Mark, and Steve Vai.
The Coca-Cola anthem adds fresh Spanish lyrics from J Balvin, merging Latin and Brazilian sounds in a celebration of global football.
With “Dai Dai,” Shakira steps back into the World Cup spotlight, reinforcing her longstanding relationship with the sport's grandest tournament.
