The Red Sea International Film Festival has announced a significant three-year collaboration with CITIA, the organization behind the prestigious Annecy International Animation Film Festival, aimed at enriching and expanding the animation sector in Saudi Arabia. This important agreement was formalized in Jeddah by Faisal Baltyuor, CEO of the Red Sea Film Foundation, and Mickaël Marin, CEO of CITIA. The initiative seeks to showcase Saudi animation talent on a global scale while enhancing the Kingdom's footprint in the international animation arena.
Beginning in 2026, this partnership will roll out several pivotal programs. A central focus will be the development of Saudi talent, creating avenues for professional networking, skill development, and exchanges of ideas with industry experts from across the globe. The collaboration is also set to foster more international collaborations and creative projects involving Saudi creators and global professionals.
Another key feature of this alliance includes the establishment of an annual event at Culture Square in Historic Jeddah. This program will showcase selected works from the Annecy Festival, alongside workshops, screenings, and family-oriented activities. Such events will grant local audiences access to outstanding international animation and ignite passion among aspiring creators in the Kingdom.
Additional plans include a series of training workshops and exchange programs supported by CITIA’s extensive global network. These initiatives will offer Saudi artists invaluable hands-on experience while learning from established leaders in the animation community. By facilitating access to global expertise and industry benchmarks, this endeavor aims to cultivate a robust and competitive animation sector in Saudi Arabia.
Through this long-term partnership, the Red Sea Film Festival reinforces its commitment to fostering creative industries within the Kingdom, empowering young animators to develop, connect, and thrive on the international stage.
