R. Ramanan, vice-president of People's Justice Party, has strongly denied allegations linking him to the controversial “Mr R” figure in an alleged corporate mafia scandal.
Speaking at a press conference in Shah Alam, Ramanan dismissed claims made by businessman Victor Chin, who alleged that an individual identified as “Mr R” demanded RM10 million to resolve issues related to a corporate dispute.
Ramanan challenged Chin to clearly identify the individual and provide concrete evidence, calling the accusations baseless and politically motivated. He stated that he has never met or communicated with Chin and described the claims as an attempt to tarnish both his reputation and the government.
The controversy revolves around allegations involving business dealings linked to NexG Bhd, which is reportedly under investigation for possible financial irregularities. Chin claimed he paid RM9.5 million but did not receive the promised resolution, later demanding a refund and threatening to expose the person involved.
Ramanan, who also serves as Malaysia’s Human Resources Minister, reiterated that he holds no public shares and remains fully compliant with regulations set by authorities such as Securities Commission Malaysia.
He further questioned Chin’s credibility, pointing to inconsistencies in his claims and allegations involving multiple enforcement agencies, including Bank Negara Malaysia and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
Ramanan confirmed that party members would lodge police reports against Chin and urged him to return to Malaysia to cooperate with investigations instead of making allegations from abroad.
The issue has also sparked political debate within PKR, with references to remarks made by party leaders adding to public confusion. Ramanan stressed the need for transparency and accountability, urging all parties to present verified facts.
The case continues to unfold as authorities investigate the claims, raising broader concerns about political integrity, corporate influence, and governance in Malaysia.
