The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), in collaboration with World Athletics and the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), has rolled out the “Aim Beyond” initiative aimed at supporting youth and underserved communities through the transformative power of sport. This announcement was made following an agreement signed by QOC Secretary General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain and QFFD Director General Fahad Hamad Al Sulaiti, with World Athletics CEO Jon Ridgeon present.
This global initiative will see the construction of 11 innovative, eco-friendly, and inclusive running tracks across nations such as Palestine, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, the Cook Islands, Panama, Anguilla, Dominica, Burundi, Tanzania, and Ukraine. The tracks are tailored to accommodate athletes of all abilities and utilize sustainable materials as part of Qatar’s pledge to foster development and community enhancement.
According to Qatari officials, this initiative underscores the nation's conviction that sport can drive peace, unity, and social growth. The newly constructed tracks will not only help young athletes hone their skills but create communal areas that enhance equality and foster a sense of belonging. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain emphasized that the Aim Beyond initiative is a chance for young athletes to surpass their limits, echoing Qatar's achievements during the Doha 2019 World Athletics Championships and ensuring the continuation of this sporting legacy.
Fahad Hamad Al Sulaiti remarked that this initiative will pave the way for new opportunities for the youth by providing accessible facilities that nurture talent and enable them to build brighter futures. In agreement, World Athletics CEO Jon Ridgeon noted that while many communities have inherent talent, they often lack resources, and Aim Beyond will play a crucial role in bridging this gap through robust partnerships. He added that this endeavor will extend the legacy of the Doha 2019 championships far beyond Qatar, nurturing young athletes globally.
