The upcoming Oman Poetry Festival marks its 13th edition from December 14 to 18, 2025, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth. This vibrant event will unfold at the Ministry of Information’s theatre in Muscat, welcoming an impressive lineup of prominent Omani poets along with esteemed guests from various Arab nations. Attendees can look forward to an engaging program consisting of workshops, poetry readings, and cultural events designed to celebrate literary art and foster cultural affiliations within the region.
Participants can engage in the festival through two primary avenues: some poets will receive invitations from the organizers, while others will be selected for the final competition round. In a bid to enhance inclusivity, poets of all generations are encouraged to participate. An unscheduled showcase will also allow poets to present their works, ensuring a platform for both established figures and budding talents in Oman’s poetry landscape.
This year’s festival will pay tribute to four distinguished poets who have made notable contributions to Omani literature and culture. Among those honored will be Salim bin Ali Al Kalbani, recognized for his classical poetry; Hamoud bin Sulaiman Al Hajri, known for his popular poetry; as well as the late Mohammed bin Issa Al Harthi and Hilala bint Khalifa Al Hamdani, both celebrated figures in the nation’s literary history.
The festival serves as a celebration of poetry while also underscoring the significance of preserving and promoting Omani literary and cultural traditions. Attendees can anticipate a rich array of performances, opportunities to learn from acclaimed poets, and engaging dialogues surrounding the future of Arab poetry. By uniting poets from different generations, the Oman Poetry Festival 2025 represents the nation’s dedication to nurturing talent and cultivating a dynamic literary community. This edition is poised to garner widespread interest and reinforce Oman’s status as a vital arts and culture destination.
