North Korea has conducted a new round of missile tests as part of efforts to strengthen its naval and strategic capabilities. The tests involved both strategic cruise missiles and anti-ship missiles launched from a destroyer identified as “Choi Hyon.”
According to state media, leader Kim Jong Un personally oversaw the operation, accompanied by senior military officials and naval commanders. The exercise was described as a key step in enhancing operational readiness and testing advanced weapon systems.
During the test, two strategic cruise missiles and three anti-ship missiles were launched. The primary objective was to evaluate the destroyer’s integrated weapons command system, train crews on launch procedures, and verify the performance of navigation systems designed to resist electronic jamming.
Reports indicated that the cruise missiles remained in flight for approximately 7,869 to 7,920 seconds, while the anti-ship missiles traveled for about 1,960 to 1,973 seconds. All missiles reportedly hit their intended targets with high precision over waters along the west coast.
On the same day, Kim Jong Un was briefed on plans to develop weapons systems for two additional destroyers currently under construction. This reflects a broader strategy to expand naval capabilities and modernize military assets.
Officials emphasized that strengthening what they describe as “nuclear war deterrence” remains a top priority. The country continues to focus on advancing strategic weapons and maintaining rapid-response capabilities in the face of regional security challenges.
The latest missile tests underline ongoing tensions in the region and highlight North Korea’s continued commitment to enhancing its military strength through technological advancements and defense modernization.
