New Brunswick Resident Charged Following Stabbing Incident

New Brunswick Resident Charged Following Stabbing Incident

Post by : Meena Ariff

Peter Fragoso, a 29-year-old from New Brunswick, has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing that occurred at a Durham Avenue property on December 3. He is currently detained at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center, facing serious allegations, including first-degree attempted murder and multiple weapon possession charges.

The stabbing took place around 7:30 p.m., when police were alerted to the incident. Officers arrived to find a 23-year-old man from Long Branch with several knife injuries inside the residence. He was swiftly taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for emergency treatment. His injuries have been reported as serious, but no updates on his recovery have been confirmed.

The investigation is under the direction of Detectives Robert Ring from the local police department and Stephanie Redline of Middlesex County. Their collaborative efforts led to Fragoso being identified as the suspect, resulting in his arrest on December 4. A court appearance for his arraignment is expected on December 12.

Authorities have appealed to the community for any additional information that might aid the investigation. Residents who may have pertinent details are encouraged to reach out to Detective Ring at (732) 632-8501 or Detective Redline at (732) 745-3316. Police have stressed the importance of community engagement to ensure thorough investigations and justice.

It is important to note that Fragoso, like any accused individual, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court setting. The serious nature of the charges means the case will undergo a full judicial review based on legal guidelines.

This event has sparked concern among local residents, as violent incidents are uncommon in their neighborhoods. The community is urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to help maintain safety.

The investigation into this stabbing continues, with police assuring the public that updates will be shared as they emerge.
