On Saturday, New Delhi witnessed a significant protest organized by the Cockroach Janta Party at Jantar Mantar, seeking accountability regarding the NEET paper leak issue. Demonstrators called for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan while spotlighting the need for greater transparency and fairness in the educational landscape.
Founded by Abhijeet Dipke, the Cockroach Janta Party is a social media-driven initiative. Dipke, who traveled from the United States, spearheaded the rally after securing necessary permissions from Delhi Police. Authorities facilitated the gathering at Jantar Mantar, ensuring a strong security presence to uphold order during the event.
Prominent activist Sonam Wangchuk added considerable visibility to the protest, drawing public interest and emphasizing the protesters' demands. A substantial crowd gathered, demonstrating the widespread concern regarding the issues at hand.
The primary objective, as stated by the organizers, was to advocate for justice for those impacted by the NEET paper leak and to hold responsible parties accountable. Pamphlets were distributed, clearly outlining the movement's focus on demanding the minister's resignation. Organizers reported that an online petition calling for reforms had amassed over 800,000 signatures.
To facilitate safety, Delhi Police deployed around 2,000 personnel near the protest site. Authorities kept a close watch on the gathering while allowing participants to continue peacefully.
Launched on May 16 by Abhijeet Dipke, Cockroach Janta Party began as a satirical digital movement and quickly gained traction on social media, amassing millions of followers and initiating conversations across various platforms.
The recent protests have thrust the NEET paper leak issue back into national dialogue, with organizers promising to persist in their pursuit of accountability and reform in education.
