A defamation case between Najib Razak and Dzulkefly Ahmad has been settled at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur. The lawsuit, filed in 2022, centered on allegations of nepotism linked to the appointment of Dzulkefly’s daughter to positions in government-linked organizations.
During court proceedings, Najib issued a formal statement clarifying that his earlier social media post was not intended to defame Dzulkefly. He acknowledged that the Health Minister had no involvement in his daughter’s appointments and denied any intention to accuse him of corruption or nepotism.
Najib explained that the post was meant as political commentary addressing broader governance issues and not as a personal attack. He also expressed regret over any distress caused to Dzulkefly and his family, emphasizing that such an outcome was never his intention.
Following the statement, Dzulkefly’s legal team confirmed that no further action would be pursued, effectively ending the case. The court welcomed the settlement, highlighting the importance of resolving disputes amicably and conserving judicial resources.
