Modi Embarks on Diplomatic Mission to Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman

Post by : Maya Rahman

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant diplomatic mission to Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman from December 15 to 18, 2025. His journey begins in Jordan on December 15-16, at the invitation of King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein. The agenda includes a comprehensive review of India-Jordan relations and discussions on crucial regional matters. This visit also celebrates the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between both nations, aiming to bolster cooperation, explore new partnership avenues, and reaffirm India’s dedication to fostering peace and stability in the area.

Following his time in Jordan, the Prime Minister will proceed to Ethiopia on December 16-17 for a State visit, invited by Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali. It marks his inaugural visit to Ethiopia, where extensive discussions are expected between the two leaders focused on enriching India-Ethiopia relations, highlighting their alignment as key members of the Global South. They will also reaffirm their mutual commitment to friendship, developmental collaboration, and shared growth.

In the concluding segment of his trip, Modi will visit Oman from December 17-18, invited by Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. This marks his second visit to Oman and coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. Both countries enjoy a deep Strategic Partnership, rooted in historical connections, trade, cultural interactions, and strong people-to-people links. The visit aims to review cooperation across various fields including energy, defense, investment, security, technology, agriculture, and culture, and to discuss pressing regional and global issues, thereby enhancing India’s engagement with the Middle East and East Africa.
