On Tuesday, employees at Meta voiced their concerns by distributing flyers across various US offices, opposing the new mouse-tracking software on workplace computers, as reported by Reuters.
The flyers prompted fellow employees to participate in an online petition against the surveillance technology. The flyers conveyed that “employees have the legal right to organize for better working conditions.”
This protest highlights increasing unease among workers regarding continuous monitoring and data tracking systems. Many fear that this software could jeopardize their privacy and heighten stress levels at work.
This movement seems to be part of a broader initiative by employees to scrutinize the application of workplace technologies at Meta. The company has yet to respond to these protests or the accompanying petition.
The situation has ignited a conversation among employees about their rights, privacy in the workplace, and the role of surveillance software in major tech firms.
