A Beijing court has directed Malaysia Airlines to compensate the families of eight passengers who went missing in the mysterious disappearance of flight MH370 in 2014. Each family is to receive 2.9 million yuan, approximately Rs 4 crore, covering the death of their loved one, funeral expenses, and emotional distress.
MH370, carrying 239 passengers and crew, vanished en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing over a decade ago. Despite extensive searches, the fate of the plane and its occupants remains unknown. Most passengers were Chinese, and their families have long sought answers and justice.
The Beijing court also stated that 23 other cases related to MH370 remain pending, while 47 families had already reached settlements with Malaysia Airlines and withdrew their lawsuits.
The ruling comes as the Malaysian government announced plans to resume the search for the missing aircraft starting December 30. The renewed efforts aim to uncover further details about the plane’s disappearance, providing long-awaited closure to the affected families.
The MH370 tragedy remains one of the most perplexing aviation mysteries, drawing global attention and extensive media coverage. China’s court order ensures that families of the victims receive legal recognition and compensation for their decades-long suffering.
This decision highlights ongoing international attention on MH370 and emphasizes the accountability of airlines in cases of unexplained disasters. Families continue to wait for answers while authorities prepare for the new search mission in the Indian Ocean and surrounding areas.
