New Directors for Arts Academies at Sharjah University

New Directors for Arts Academies at Sharjah University

Post by : Badri Ariffin

The arts education scene in Sharjah is set for a significant transformation as His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has announced noteworthy appointments for the leadership of the academies at the University of the Arts Sharjah.

Dr Peter Barlow, known for his extensive background in performing arts, will take the helm of the Academy of Performing Arts. With a wealth of experience in theatre, music, and dance, he is poised to enhance the academy’s educational offerings and increase student engagement with international artistic movements.

In another key appointment, Dr Nadia Mahdi Al Hassni, a respected figure in visual arts and education, will lead the Academy of Visual Arts. Her diverse skills in painting and contemporary art, coupled with her innovative teaching methods, set the stage for a rich environment where students can cultivate and advance their artistic talents.

These leadership changes underscore Sharjah’s dedication to providing top-tier education that nurtures creativity in emerging artists. The academies are focused on creating an engaging and supportive atmosphere that allows students to excel while contributing to the wider cultural goals of the UAE.

As the University of the Arts Sharjah embarks on this new leadership journey, it solidifies its role as a prominent center for arts education in the region, promoting collaborative, innovative, and high-quality practices in both the performing and visual arts.
