Kim Jong Un Orders Boost in Production of Key Rocket Launchers Ahead of Party Congress

Kim Jong Un Orders Boost in Production of Key Rocket Launchers Ahead of Party Congress

Post by : Meena Ariff

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un recently carried out a detailed inspection at a factory that produces multiple rocket launchers, stressing the urgent need to boost production of these advanced weapons. The factory, as shown in state media images, is lined with large rocket launch vehicles loaded with what appear to be multiple launch rockets, underscoring its critical role in North Korea’s efforts to modernize its long-range artillery capabilities.

According to reports from state-controlled media, Kim emphasized the importance of enhancing the factory’s production structure to build a strong and sustainable manufacturing capacity. This directive is aimed at meeting ambitious munitions production targets that will be officially outlined at the upcoming Ninth Party Congress of the Workers’ Party. This congress, a major political event where key policy goals are set, is widely expected to take place as early as January next year.

In addition to inspecting the rocket launcher factory, Kim Jong Un has recently made a series of visits to other significant military production sites, including a nuclear-powered submarine. He has also overseen a number of missile tests. These high-profile visits and tests indicate a strategic effort by North Korea to showcase its expanding nuclear-capable weapons arsenal. This includes newly upgraded versions of cruise missiles and artillery rockets, signaling continued advancements in the country’s military technology.

Experts analyzing these developments believe that Kim’s recent military activities serve a dual purpose. They not only demonstrate North Korea’s growing weapons capabilities but also appear to be aimed at strengthening Kim’s negotiating position in potential future talks with the United States. By highlighting improvements in weapons linked to nuclear arms, North Korea seems intent on increasing its leverage in diplomatic discussions and negotiations.

The Ninth Party Congress is expected to be a pivotal event that will set the strategic direction for North Korea’s defense policy and overall political agenda. Kim’s focus on military modernization remains a central theme, as he seeks to consolidate and enhance the country’s military strength amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
